Recent Paintings
Thursday 23 November at At 18.00 Galleri Dropsfabrikken has the pleasure of opening the solo exhibition "Recent Paintings" with the Danish-Norwegian painter Kenneth Blom.
The exhibition is being held on the occasion of the publication of his new book "Kenneth Blom: A Survey", which is the artist's first comprehensive monograph, and which provides a retrospective of Blom's work over the past decade.
Blom's paintings stand out through a unique combination of architectural and figurative elements. Over the years, his art has been influenced by various artistic currents. In his exploration of the alienated figure and its complex psychological depths, he draws inspiration from Edvard Munch's legacy. At the same time, his deep, yet lively color palette is reminiscent of Nordic artists from the 19th century, linked to Romanticism or the Danish Golden Age. Yet Blom's technique is distinctly modern, involving the use of photographs to both enhance and distort
the realism.

All in all, Blom portrays in a particularly skilful way a space where people mix with architecture
or indistinct landscapes. Where details merge into abstraction, and realism dissolves into blur
spots of scraped paint. His work serves as a reminder that the present moment
is nothing but fleeting and never completely within our grasp.
